G0 Superconducting Magnet System
Back-angle To-Do List

Listed below are tasks associated with improvement of the SMS and its control system as well as items that are necessary for preparation for back-angle running of the G0 experiment. The tasks are prioritized, somewhat subjectively, into the following catagories: tasks which MUST be done ([]), tasks which SHOULD be done ([]), and tasks which we WOULD LIKE to do ([]). Send additions and "completions" to Steven Williamson and they will be included in the list. Completed tasks will be marked with a [].

[] Design and build a "2nd stage transistorized relay box" for JT4 and possibly other JT valves (Build and test prototype during warm up?)
[] Add time delay to water flow loss interlocks. Time should be set to at least 30 sec.
[] Acquire/build a spare JT actuator (Andy is on top of this). Use a 3X slower gear box. Test this, then consider retrofitting other actuators with the slower gear box.
[] Leak check the peripheral transfer line and repair any leaks that are found.
[] Develop a permanent solution to the peripheral transfer line vacuum problem if leaks remain after leak check (pump from A-can, another pump, etc.)

[] Look into replacing corroded connectors on top of the reservoir (requires magnet warm and up to air).
[] Order remote cold-cathode read-out box. Arrange for connectors and cabling to but the readout box behind the green wall.
[] Order a spare flow controller (or possibly just the electronics?)
[] Try to come up with a better connection between Lookout and Epics (better than the web-query/excel scheme) that would show real-time values.
[] Test and repair PLC I/O modules that are questionable.

[] Consider "remote" PLC option (PLC located in electronics cage, with Ethernet connection to the signal processing electronics).
[] Investigate further the "fast component" transients during "power-supply off" event which are what cause the AQP to fast dump. Is there a way to cancel these?
[] Paul Brindza's high-capacity CDHXR? (cost is probably >$40k to $50k)
[] Put the code that currently runs in the G0SMS IOC into the PC-104 system. Get rid of G0SMS IOC.
[] Upgrade Lookout to the National Instruments version with the DirectSoft driver.
[] Add local pressure measuring device (interfaced to PLC) for cold return pressure.
[] Add local pressure measuring device (interfaced to PLC) for warm return pressure.
[] Add a plug valve position sensor (turn counter?) which can be read and logged by the control system.
