The G0 Simulation E-Mail List Server

An archived e-mail list server is available for the purpose of facilitating information exchange related to the simulation of the G0 experiment. Basically the rules and procedures for this list are the same as for the general G0 e-mail list server (g0-list). However, all e-mails sent to this list service are forwarded to subscribed members of the G0 simulation working group (and anyone else in the collaboration who choses to subscribe).

This particular list is "closed" -- that means you can only subscribe to the list with the approval of the list-owner (Steve Pate) and only the subscribers can send and receive messages. All messages sent to the list will be archived and available through a WWW interface requiring a password.

To Subscribe:

Send an e-mail to majordomo@jlab.org with this line in the BODY of the message (do not put it in the SUBJECT line)

subscribe g0-sim

You will receive an acknowledgment, informing you that the list is closed and that you have to wait for approval. After the list owner (Steve Pate) approves your request, then you will receive another message telling you everything you need to know about how to use the list.

NOTE: You should send your subscription request from the SAME computer from which you plan to send messages to the list. If you send messages to the list from a different computer than you subscribed from, they will bounce!

To Send a Message to the List:

After your subscription has been approved, you can send a message to the list by addressing an email to g0-sim@jlab.org Your email will be distributed to all subscribers.

NOTE: If you reply to a message from the list, the default (in most mailers) will be to reply to the list itself (everyone on the list), not just to the original sender!

To Read the Web Archive:

The archive is located at http://www.jlab.org/ccc/mail_archives/HALLC/g0-sim/ To access it, you will be asked for a username and password. You should use the SAME username and password as at the UIUC G0 documentation page.

To UN-subscribe:

If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, you can send mail to majordomo@jlab.org with the following command in the body of your email message:

unsubscribe g0-sim

or from another account, besides the one that you normally use to mail to the list server:

unsubscribe g0-sim user@node

where user@node is your usual e-mail address.

To Contact the List "Owner":

If you ever need to get in contact with the owner of the list, (Steve Pate) (if you have trouble unsubscribing, or have questions about the list itself) send email to owner-g0-sim@jlab.org. (This is the general rule for most mailing lists when you need to contact a human.)

You can get a list of the members of the email list by sending this line:
